What kind of experience does it deliver that other games don’t? Best player count? Biggest “I wish I knew this before my first game” tip?</p> <p>Also, how hard is it <em>really</em> to learn? Unfortunately I don&#39;t get to play too often as my gaming group is comprised of my best friend and our respective partners, who will only play short, occasional sessions at most. Ivan here, the creator of Chwazi, the original finger chooser.</p> <p>It has been a <strong>long time since Chwazi came to life back in 2013</strong>, and the whole board game community embraced it and made its name known and respected. <strong>Thank you all 10.000.000 players for that.</strong></p> <p>Over the past few weeks <strong>I have been working on a new version</strong>. I had a few principles in mind. Keep the <strong>animations exactly the same</strong>. Fix some of the <strong>known bugs and limitations</strong>. Make it <strong>more fluid</strong> using newer rendering APIs. And run everything from a single codebase for both Android and iOS. That last one matters a lot. Chwazi was native in Objective C and Java, and that is a pain in the ass to work with, because every change had to be built twice.</p> <p><strong>A bit of history:</strong> Chwazi is kind of like a calculator. You don&#39;t invent new math functions like add and subtract every day, so honestly it never needed much attention. Most of the updates over the years were just me keeping the app alive on the App Store and Play Store.</p> <p><strong>The truth is that was harder than it sounds, and three separate times the app went unavailable. I&#39;m sorry about that.</strong></p> <p><strong>Back in 2013 Chwazi was the only chooser</strong> on the App Store and Play Store. It had its own animation ideas, a unique name, and a community that actually cared. Simple, no ads, offline, no limits.</p> <p><strong>These days there are hundreds of apps</strong>, and a lot of them are <strong>trying to look like Chwazi.</strong> Trying to mimic it. Trying to be it. I love innovation, but cloning something without adding anything of your own is just copying. <strong>And honestly, a lot of those apps are pulling it off.</strong></p> <p>I would love to keep working on Chwazi and adding new modes, but for that to happen the app itself has to keep shining and stay loved.</p> <p><strong>Let me know what do you think Chwazi needs the most?</strong></p> <p><strong>Being honest with you</strong>, I am still figuring out which path Chwazi should take. One side of me wants to find a way to make it sustainable. The other wants to keep it completely free, lean on a strong community, and maybe even open source it one day. I appreciate all feedback and wanted to share more art here as a response!</p> <p>The Frodo piece was done by the talented Rod Mendez. I am sharing his Gimli piece as well as his Gildor Inglorian artwork, which I love!</p> <p>I am also sharing one of my personal favorites from another artist on the project, Jakub Rebelka. He is specializing in the art that will show up as Ascension &quot;Monster&quot; cards. His Barad-dûr is shown here.</p> <p>Lastly, I am excited to show Aaron Nakahara&#39;s take on the showdown between Éowyn and the Witch-king. into playing board games.</p> <p>Honestly it holds the perfect amount of luck and strategy, with enough replay-ability that I&#39;m not bored easily.</p> <p>We have been playing this every single day after dinner and I just love it. Maybe it&#39;s the concept of having coins and purchasing stuff (?) that makes it so fun and easy to learn!</p> <p>I love love this game and I wish they would introduce this on app stores so I can play with strangers. And an even bigger expansion pack!! usertext-body"> <!-- SC_OFF --><div class="md"><p>Here’s my board game collection.</p> <p>I got into the hobby around the year 2000 and haven’t looked back since.</p> <p>I play all kinds of games and am always happy to try something new. At the moment, <em>Tapestry</em> is my favorite game, but that changes from time to time, and my mood also plays a big part in what I feel like playing.</p> <p>I have two gaming groups that I play with regularly, and I’m also fortunate enough to run a board game club twice a month at my workplace, the local library.</p> <p>The shelves are an IKEA IVAR system. I used to have a KALLAX, but I felt it took up too much space in the room.
